Discovered deceased: Missing teenager located within automobile belonging to musician D4vd; relatives express their concerns
In a shocking turn of events, the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April of last year, was discovered severely decomposed in the trunk of a Tesla registered to David Anthony Burke, also known as D4vd, a popular figure on the PGA Tour.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently investigating the incident as a homicide. Burke, who was on the North American leg of his international tour at the time of the body's discovery, has cancelled the remaining dates of his U.S. tour amid the investigation.
According to reports, the Tesla was impounded in Hempstead, Texas, earlier this month, after it was abandoned on a Hollywood Hills street for more than 72 hours. A neighbor reported the abandoned Tesla to CBS News, stating it had been abandoned for weeks and smelled like sewage.
The LAPD conducted a search at a home in the Los Angeles neighborhood where the Tesla was abandoned, and several pieces of evidence were recovered. Authorities are also seeking digital devices that may have security recordings or connect Rivas to the location.
A representative for Burke stated that he has been informed about the situation and is fully cooperating with the authorities. The GoFundMe page created by a person representing Rivas' family, seeking donations to 'lay her body to rest', has raised over $14,000 of its $20,000 goal from more than 500 donations. The GoFundMe trust and safety team is working with the fundraiser's organizer to ensure the money safely reaches the Rivas family.
In a statement, the Rivas family has broken their silence regarding the discovery of their daughter's body, expressing their deep sadness and gratitude for the support they have received. The LAPD is following up on leads in the case, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
As the investigation continues, the remaining dates on the singer's U.S. tour were 'quietly removed' from venue websites on Thursday, according to Variety. The international leg of Burke's tour currently remains. The LAPD is asking the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
