Discovered 'Burn Bags' of Trump-Russia Correspondence Hidden in a Concealed Space, Says FBI Director Kash Patel
In a significant development, a classified annex within John Durham's 2023 report has been uncovered by FBI Director Kash Patel at the FBI headquarters. The annex contains previously classified information that exposes a reported plan by the Clinton campaign to falsely tie Donald Trump to Russia.
The annex details a Clinton campaign plan to create a false narrative linking Trump to Russia, potential foreign government influence targeting Hillary Clinton during the election, and false statements made to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA court) in obtaining warrants on Carter Page. It also reveals the FBI's failure to investigate intelligence that the Clinton campaign may have orchestrated a Russia collusion hoax, while using politically motivated material like the Steele Dossier to justify surveillance.
The annex further includes a January 2016 memo suggesting then-President Obama intended to quash an FBI investigation into Clinton’s private email server and alleged mishandling of classified documents. The documents found by Patel are set to be declassified and turned over to Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) for eventual public release.
The discovery of these documents comes at a time when the Mueller investigation was ongoing, with Patel serving as chief investigator for then-House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who launched an investigation into the conduct of "Crossfire Hurricane" in 2017.
The annex is reported to include information that foreign sources warned US intelligence community members that the FBI would help spread a narrative that the 2016 Trump campaign illegally colluded with the Kremlin before the bureau launched "Crossfire Hurricane" in July 2016. Durham's final report concluded that "Crossfire Hurricane" was "seriously flawed" and had no basis in evidence.
The discovery of these documents has sparked interest from President Trump, who stated, "I want everything to be shown... as long as it's fair and reasonable, I think it will be shown." However, the former CIA Director John Brennan and ex-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper have disputed claims of a "treasonous conspiracy" by Obama administration officials to undermine the successor.
In a New York Times op-ed, Brennan and Clapper insisted that Moscow did influence the election by shaping voter preferences before the voting booths. They also criticized the politicization of intelligence by administration officials, notably Trump's directors of national intelligence and the CIA, positions that should be apolitical.
As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what further revelations will come to light regarding the origins of "Crossfire Hurricane" and the alleged role of the Clinton campaign in spreading the false Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
