Discourse on Talk's Platform:
In January 1933, the Nazi Party (NSDAP) took political power in Germany, marking the beginning of a tumultuous era that would forever change the course of history. Goetz Aly, a renowned historian, will delve into this period, focusing on the methods used by the NS rulers to transform millions of Germans into compliant executors or war-numbed accomplices.
The NSDAP managed to generate growing social approval after taking power, becoming the strongest political formation in Germany in 1932. The party promised the Germans ascent and prosperity, a promise that resonated deeply with the population. However, the reality was far from rosy.
The people were kept in motion, with no respite and no time for reflection, leading towards war. Hundreds of thousands participated in unprecedented mass murders, especially in Eastern Europe. Millions of German soldiers terrorized Europe, with the Holocaust and other war crimes being orchestrated and executed by the SS and its subordinate units, under the leadership of Heinrich Himmler and directives from Adolf Hitler.
The SS acted as both organizer and executor of these atrocities, supported by the Reich Security Main Office, Einsatzgruppen, and local collaborators. This system enabled widespread, state-sanctioned violence involving military, police, and civilian populations indoctrinated by racist ideology and wartime conditions.
