Fretting FC Bayern's Max Eberl Amidst Transfer Turmoil: Rumors and Budget Crunch

Discontent of Eberl over World Cup pressures: Demands for squad lists and transfer obligations - Discontentments of Eberl during the World Cup:

Max Eberl, the bundle of nerves behind FC Bayern's transfer dealings, finds himself chuckling off questions about potential new acquisitions while juggling the Club World Cup festivities in the USA.

Eberl, a seasoned sporting director, hasn't lost his touch for intrigue, as he's swarmed with queries about impending departures and enticing new recruits. Oh boy, when will the drama finally die down?

Eberl cuts through the chaos after the opening game in Cincinnati: "What's the date? And when is the transfer window closing? Until September 1st. A lot of water is bound to flow down the Isar - or the Ohio River."

So, what has he got on his plate?

Eberl divulges that it's all part of the business. What irks him, however, are the "ridiculous rumor lists" and potential sales candidates like Kingsley Coman, Minjae Kim, Sacha Boey, Serge Gnabry, or Joao Palhinha, who might be moving on. With their transfer fees and saved salaries, Eberl would have a smoother ride on the buying end.

His transfer hotlist so far includes only national players Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen) and Tom Bischof (TSG Hoffenheim). Both are already playing at the Club World Cup. The poor guy hasn't had a break, what with three departures in the attack – Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and the once-promising striker Mathys Tel (20) sold to Tottenham Hotspur for a neat 35 million after a loan.

A rebuke for Kimmich

Something's got to give on the buying end in attack. Eberl initially admitted it, and then sports director Christoph Freund chimed in, stating, "Our goal is to strengthen ourselves there and bring in quality." Joshua Kimmich echoed these sentiments, but Eberl handed him a firm tap on the shoulder: "Jo is on the pitch – and I'm doing it off the pitch."

Transfer queries can be solved on the pitch. Sacha Boey, who is the backup right-back, showcased his scoring prowess, among other things, in the 10-0 win against Auckland City. Kingsley Coman even scored twice and played a solid 45 minutes against an opponent who, let's be honest, wasn't up to snuff.

The Frenchman has been on the books since 2015. His contract still has two years remaining. However, the 29-year-old Coman is injury-prone. Eberl and coach Vincent Kompany, nevertheless, spoke highly of Coman when discussing this potential sale: "King delivers his performance. He's an extraordinary player who, in my opinion, had a fantastic season last year. And he stayed healthy, which is paramount for King," said the sporting director.

Remembering Coman's legacies

Kompany avoids all transfer-related conversations at the Club World Cup – at least publicly. But he did speak about Coman in sporting terms: "When we talk about his quality, it's important not to forget that he scores important goals. I remember his most significant strike – the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. If he stays fit, we have a top winger," said Kompany.

The Munich transfer wish list seems to be forever changing.
