Discontented Elements Should Not Risk Jeopardizing the Nation's Rotational Structure - OPC Warns El-Rufai and Others Against Disruption

In a bold move, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has come forward, accusing Northern politicians, specifically Nasir El-Rufai, of hatching a scheme to topple President Bola Tinubu's leadership. This accusation, communicated through a statement on Monday, casts doubting eyes on those attempting to jeopardize the long-standing power rotation agreement between the North and South, notably the so-called "power brokers" Hameed Baba-Ahmed and Nasir El-Rufai.

Rallying behind Tinubu's re-election in 2027, the OPC forewarns against such politically motivated moves. OPC's General Secretary, Bunmi Fasehun, articulated their stance forcefully, stating,

Shouldering the defense of national unity, the OPC affirms that their 10 million-strong membership will not stand idly by, allowing these malicious political maneuvers to undermine the nation's harmony.

Historically, Tinubu has been a significant player in bringing the presidency to the North in 2015 by orchestrating an opposition victory against a sitting Southern president. In a divine twist, Tinubu turned an impossible feat into reality through his strategic acumen, connections, and resources. The OPC recalls how Tinubu mobilized the South-West to vote en masse for Buhari during both elections.

Labeling Tinubu as a shining product of Nigeria's democratic struggle, Fasehun further likened him to the late South African icon, Nelson Mandela. Their shared commitment to the democratic struggle, both at home and abroad, cements Tinubu's symbolic importance.
