Top Gun 3 Plot Revealed: Producer McQuarrie Confirms Storyline
Christopher McQuarrie, the acclaimed producer of the highly anticipated Top Gun: Maverick, has divulged an exciting update on the upcoming threequel. In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, McQuarrie confirmed that the storyline for Top Gun 3 has already been cracked.
During the discussion, McQuarrie was asked if Top Gun 3 was a more challenging plot to crack than Top Gun: Maverick. His response? "It's already in the bag. I already know what it is," he said, adding that he initially thought it would be a more difficult task but to his surprise, it turned out to be an easier process.
McQuarrie, who co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick with Ehren Kruger, hinted that the duo would likely reunite for the third film. "Krueger pitched something and we had one conversation about it, and the framework is there," stated McQuarrie, indicating that the foundation of the story has already been established.
The filmmaker was less forthcoming when discussing the specifics of the plot. However, he did emphasize that Top Gun 3 will continue to capture the emotional essence that has made the franchise a success. "As you start to execute it... you start [to think] why these movies are made the way they are," said McQuarrie. "It's not the action, it's not even the level of or intensity of or the scope and scale of the action... It's the emotion."
