Director Nag Ashwin of the upcoming film "Kalki" in 2898 AD speaks out about Deepika Padukone's removal from the sequel, saying, "I can't undo what's been done, but..."
In a surprising turn of events, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been removed from two highly anticipated films - Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, starring Prabhas, and the sequel to the mythological epic sci-fi action film Kalki 2898 AD.
The production house Vyjayanthi Movies made the official announcement of Deepika Padukone's exit from Kalki 2898 AD on Thursday morning, stating that they were unable to find a partnership with the actress. The announcement did not reveal the reasons for Deepika's demands that led to her exit from the sequel. However, it is being speculated that her demands for a 7-hour shoot day, a 25% increment in fees, five-star accommodation, and reimbursement for food for her entourage of 25 people were the cause.
In a similar turn of events, Deepika was removed from Spirit, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas. Triptii Dimri has replaced Deepika, who had played a brief role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 2023 film Animal. The announcement does not reveal the reasons for Deepika's exit from the sequel, but it is being reported that her request for an 8-hour shoot day, which Sandeep Reddy Vanga refused, was the reason for her removal from Spirit.
The makers' announcement about Deepika's exit from Spirit also stated that a film like Kalki 2898 AD deserves commitment and much more. Kalki 2898 AD is a mythological epic sci-fi action film that grossed Rs 1042 crore worldwide. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin, who shared a cryptic post on his Instagram Stories in response to Deepika's exit. The post reads, "You can't change what happened, but you can choose what happens next."
It is being speculated that Nag Ashwin's cryptic post is directed towards Deepika Padukone. Nag Ashwin is also the director of Kalki 2898 AD, and the production house for the film has not yet commented on the matter.
Deepika Padukone's exit from these high-profile films has left fans and industry insiders alike speculating about the reasons behind her departure. As of now, Deepika has not made any official statement regarding her exit from the films.
