Director Christopher McQuarrie hints at 'Top Gun 3': "It's already secured"

When asked if creating a story for Top Gun 3 presented a challenge compared to the 2022 blockbuster sequel, McQuarrie responded in the negative, stating, "No, it's already in the bag." He elaborated, "I thought it would be, but Ehren Kruger pitched something, and we had one conversation about it, and the framework is there. So, no, it's not hard to crack."
McQuarrie explained that while the action sequences and engineering are not what make these films difficult, the emotional element is key. He described the process as more about interrogating the reasons behind the films' essence rather than the action itself.
