Director and Lead Actor Set for Split Fiction Film
Breaking Down the latest Split Fiction News
Stuck in a narrative-inspired whirlwind? So are we, and here's the scoop! Hazelight Studios' hit co-op adventure game Split Fiction is heading to the silver screen, and we've got the lowdown on who's steering this tale and who's starring in it!
According to reliable sources, the film will be in the able hands of Jon M. Chu, known for Wicked, and as our leading lady—Sydney Sweeney, fresh off the Madame Web set. Variety has revealed that the script is being penned by the writers behind Deadpool & Wolverine, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Interestingly, Sweeney will also don the producer's hat for the film, echoing her role in the upcoming Outrun adaptation.
But here's where the plot thickens—it's still unclear if Sweeney will inhabit the shoes of Mio or Zoe, the games' central characters. With Sweeney's vibrant and vivacious persona, speculation suggests she might be a perfect fit for Zoe[2][3]. However, some whisper that Gal Gadot could bring Mio to life with her striking resemblance to the character and her performance aptitude that aligns with Mio's personality[3].
Split Fiction, which made its debut in March this year, follows the journey of two young women: a sci-fi enthusiast, Mio, and a fantasy aficionado, Zoe. Invited by a book publisher to experience a device that turns their stories into reality, they instead find themselves in a captivating blend of their tales and must drag themselves out before being irrevocably trapped and their ideas being pilfered[1][2][3].
So, what's on Sweeney and Chu's to-do list besides Split Fiction? Well, Sweeney's got another season of Euphoria on her dance card and the Gundam movie on the horizon. Chu, on the other hand, has Wicked: For Good coming in later this year and Oh, the Places You'll Go! scheduled for 2028[1][2][3]. Which means it might be a little while until we get to see Split Fiction dance on the big screen!
