Neuss Mishap: A Major Collision on the Willy-Brandt-Ring
Over the weekend (August 3rd), at a dreadful hour of 1:15 AM, a chilling incident unfolded on the Obererft stretch of the Willy-Brandt-Ring.
Initial evidence collected by the local law enforcement suggests a 43-year-old chap from Düsseldorf, behind the wheel of a BMW, veered into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with a Seat driven by a 36-year-old gent hailing from our very own Neuss.
The Düsseldorfian, sporting an Indian passport, emerged with minor scratches while the Neuss native suffered severe wounds. They were both whisked off to nearby medical facilities by the swift-moving emergency services. Their battered vehicles were declared unfit for the road and towed from the grim scene.
Here's where things get murky. Allegedly, the Düsseldorfian's blood alcohol level tippled above the legal limit of 0.8% in a breath test. A blood sample was drawn, his driver's license confiscated, and there were allegations pointing towards distracted driving due to excessive mobile phone usage during the crash.
The investigation into this distressing incident is being conducted by the Neuss Traffic Commission 1.
