Dining Event Happens Tonight at the Awards Ceremony

In a joint ceremony that marked a significant event for both Prolight + Sound and Musikmesse, the 16th MIPA (Musikmesse International Press Award) and just the second PIPA (Prolight + Sound International Press Award) took place on Thursday, 16 April. Over 300 manufacturers' representatives from 18 countries attended the awards ceremony, which was one of the highlights of both events.

The MIPA Awards primarily focus on music instruments, equipment, and innovations, judged by international music journalists, while PIPA Awards highlight innovations and products in the pro audio, lighting, and event technology sectors, also assessed by the press. This year, the awards ceremony attracted approximately 300 guests and was followed by good food, music, and conversation.

In the MIPA Awards for musical instruments and audio equipment, the PRS Silver Sky John Mayer Signature was named the winner in the Electric Guitar category, while the Sire Marcus Miller V7 Alder 5-string bagged the top spot in the Bass Guitar category. The Korg Minilogue XD was honoured as the best Keyboard & Synthesizer, and the Taylor Builder’s Edition 717 was recognised as the winner in the Acoustic Guitar category. The Sonor SQ2 Drum Set was acknowledged for excellence in the Drums & Percussion category, and the Universal Audio Apollo x6 Interface was chosen as the winner in the Studio Equipment category.

In the PIPA Awards for audio equipment, the L-Acoustics L-ISA Controller was named the winner in the Live Sound Equipment category, the Shure SM7B was recognised as the best Microphone, and the Allen & Heath dLive S7000 was chosen as the winner in the Mixing Consoles category. The Audeze LCD-1 was honoured as the best Headphones & Monitoring product, and the MA Lighting grandMA3 was chosen as the winner in the Lighting & Control (audio-related tech) category.

The 2021 awards showcased a blend of classic brands and innovative new products in the musical instruments and professional audio sectors. The awards highlighted the PRS Silver Sky and Sire Marcus Miller V7 in guitars, the Korg Minilogue XD as a standout synthesizer, the Sonor SQ2 drums for their excellence, and in pro audio, the L-Acoustics L-ISA Controller and Shure SM7B for live sound and recording applications.

Social media users were abuzz with excitement as they discussed the MIPA and PIPA Awards, showcasing the latest innovations in music instruments, audio equipment, pro audio, lighting, and event technology.
