Dinamo-Metar Volleyball Club Experiences Significant Setbacks

Gone but Not Forgotten: The Exodus of Key Players from Dinamo-Metar's Volleyball Squad
After a tumultuous off-season, volleyball powerhouse "Dinamo-Metar" waves farewell to six of its star players, including top performers Ekaterina Gatina and Irina Sorokina. Here's the skinny on the players exiting Chelyabinsk and who's sticking around.
First on the list is Irina Sorokina, a battle-hardened setter who shone in "Dinamo-Metar's" ranks for four victorious seasons. Setters are a scarce breed in volleyball, and their play often determines a team's offensive prowess. With Sorokina's departure, only Olga Fornales remains as the club's lone setter, re-signing for another campaign.
Following suit is central blocker Anna Bagryantseva, who bids farewell to "Dinamo-Metar" after five triumphant years. While she didn't always start matches, she played a crucial role in the team's triumphs. However, the most painful goodbye for Chelyabinsk fans is the exit of outside hitter Ekaterina Gatina, last season's statistical powerhouse.
"Katya joined our squad with little Super League experience, but she quickly earned the coach's trust and secured a starting spot. She started off the season strong, delivering some stupendous showings. But remember, Katya's still young – just 20-years-old. There are always highs and lows at that age. Sadly, towards the end of the championship and especially in the playoffs, she dropped out of the starting lineup," lamented Vitaly Nosov, general director of the "Dinamo-Metar" Women's Volleyball Club.
Leaving the club are central blockers Vladislava Rudenya and Kristina Vdovina, who struggled to showcase their skills within "Dinamo-Metar's" starting six, receiving limited court time.
Perhaps most heartbreaking is the departure of libero Anastasia Vasilyeva, a homegrown talent who spent six passionate seasons with the club at the tender age of 23.
"Vasya is the essence of Chelyabinsk volleyball. We first met her as a young, eager pupil. A real pity we couldn't offer her sufficient game time this season, so we decided she'd seek success as a primary player elsewhere. I can't wait for her to come back stronger and better," reminisced Vitaly Nosov.
Already, "Dinamo-Metar" has lost nearly half its original roster – six players in the 2025 off-season. More exits are rumored, with further announcements expected soon.
Those confirmed to stay include Olga Fornalyeva, whose contract has been renewed. New agreements have also been penned by libero Tamara Zaitseva and outside hitters Angelina Demenτeva and Valeria Ivanovich.
The future of Olga Yargychova, Elizabeth Dikikh, Alexandra Mamayeva, and Victoria Russu remains uncertain, with official announcements forthcoming. Acquisitions are in the pipeline, but details have yet to be revealed.
All in all, "Dinamo-Metar" will be a far cry from its former self in the new season. We can only hope it will be stronger, but lingering doubts remain...
In the volatile off-season of Dinamo-Metar's Volleyball Club, the team's departure from sports will be deeply felt, as star players like Ekaterina Gatina and Irina Sorokina, who excelled in their respective roles as outside hitter and setter, are moving on.
As the lone setter remaining, Olga Fornales, who re-signed for another season, will face increased pressure to maintain the team's offensive prowess.
