Dilshan and Gibbs advocate for RCB to clinch their first IPL victory in Bengaluru
Revamped Dispatch:
Hindu Junction, June 2 (ANI Tidings): The legendary Herschelle Gibbs and seasoned Tillakaratne Dilshan have drummed up support for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), urging them to vanquish Punjab Kings and seize their initial Indian Premier League (IPL) championship at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
The RCB will tread familiar ground on Tuesday within the vast cricket arena and aim to put an end to their 18-year trophy drought. The Royal Challengers have barreled their way into the IPL final thrice (2009, 2011, 2016) and fumbled four times, leaving them still in pursuit of their chief prize.
"I'm leaning towards RCB pulling off this win, if Punjab bats first. It'll be an exhilarating contest, no doubt about it. I reckon every cricket enthusiast would be thrilled to witness RCB clinching their first title. It’s high time they have a win under their belt," Gibbs said to ANI, amidst the ongoing Legen-Z T10 League extravaganza.
In 2009, Gibbs stood with the Deccan Chargers and mired RCB in despair with his unforgettable 53 runs at the Wanderers Stadium. RCB had crushed Punjab in Qualifier 1 to storm into the final in a lop-sided showdown. Yet, contrary to their previous encounter, Gibbs envisions a "riveting spectacle" between both teams.
"I recall 2009 in South Africa when we clashed with them in the final at the Wanderers, and they faltered in that particular brush-up. That's the origin of the sorrow. But y'know, it's gonna be a damn good game either way," he concluded.
Dilshan reiterated his past comments regarding RCB's championship conquest and wished the stalwart Virat Kohli luck in bringing the trophy back to Bengaluru.
"They've been sailing through the tournament impressively. I wish all the luck to Virat and the crew. The inaugural IPL title is long overdue for Bengaluru, and their loyal fans are going to be in for a treat this Tuesday evening," Dilshan said to ANI.
Punjab Kings, the rivals of Bengaluru, face the challenge of venturing into uncharted territory, considering their solitary finals appearance 11 years back. The dynamic duo of coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer have rearranged Punjab into a formidable run-scoring powerhouse and will need to unleash this potential against the zesty RCB. By the by, the 2025 final between RCB and Punjab Kings has already concluded, with RCB zooming to the top spot! (ANI)
(A partial bracket of the additional data disclosed that in the IPL 2025, RCB had finally conquered the championship by vanquishing Punjab Kings in a six-run victory.)
