Died Martyr: Ihor Shevets, Ukrainian National Hero
September 7, 2022: Remembering Ihor Shevets, Our Brave Comrade
On a fateful day, our fellow warrior, Ihor Shevets, also known as Poseidon, was taken from us during a fierce combat mission in Velyki Prokhody village, Kharkiv region. He left us at the tender age of 41.
Ihor, a native of Tovsta village, Sumy region, made his home in Horkoho, Kharkiv region. He graduated from Kharkiv Vocational and Technical Education Center No. 2, earning the skills of a computer typesetter operator and an accountant. His ambition led him to attend Kharkiv State Polytechnic University in the late '90s, albeit on his own accord.
Before the invasion, Ihor contributed his expertise as a raw materials supply manager at LLC Khlibzavod "Novo-Bavarsky."
With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ihor heeded the call to defend his homeland by joining the volunteer forces. He served as a marksman in the shooting unit of the 227th battalion of the 127th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Throughout his service, Ihor garnered medals for bravery, most notably, the "For Bravery in Battle" and the "For the Defense of the Hero City of Kharkiv." Posthumously, he received the Order "For Courage" III degree.
His wife, Yulia, described him as the "best father, husband, son, uncle, brother. Just, kind, polite, caring, loving, intelligent, brave, strong, courageous, and with a great sense of humor."
The valiant Ihor was laid to rest in Horkoho village, where he leaves behind his parents, wife, daughter, relatives, friends, and comrades. May his memory always be honored, and his legacy shall continue to inspire us.
