Died Hero: Yevhen Prudnikov, Ukrainian Patriot
On a fateful day, September 8, 2023, the skies over the village of Pryutne in Zaporizhzhia region echoed with sorrow. Fighter Yevhen Prudnikov, affectionately known as Chyzh, fell in combat. Amid enemy mortar shelling, he sustained fatal injuries while on a mission. Just a month prior, on August 22, this 35-year-old warrior celebrated his birthday.
Born and raised in Zaporizhzhia, Yevhen was a humble man with a heart of gold. He pursued vocational education as a welder at a local school and honed his skills at the Zaporizhzhia Titanium-Magnesium Plant. He had a deep passion for his work, becoming one of the foremost specialists at the enterprise. Aside from his profession, Yevhen delved into MMA and appreciated the intellectual stimulation of a good book.
When the full-scale Russian invasion invaded Ukraine, Yevhen chose to stand up and defend his homeland. He joined the ranks of the defenders and took up arms, fighting alongside the 110th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yevhen was a marksman of the 2nd category in the sniper unit of the fire support company.
Olena Shepotko, Yevhen's fiancee, shares heartfelt memories: "Yevhen was a kind, thoughtful, brave, and optimistic warrior. He was everywhere the action was, from the battles near Bakhmut to the heated engagements in Avdiivka. He put his brothers-in-arms before himself."
In recognition of his valiant service and ultimate sacrifice, the deceased soldier, Prudnikov Yevhen Ihorovych, was bestowed the Order of Courage, 3rd degree posthumously.
The warrior rests in peace at the St. Nicholas cemetery of his hometown. Survivors include his father and fiancee.
