Diddy's sex trafficking trial set for jury selection initiation

Get ready for some hot courtroom drama, folks! Sean "Diddy" Combs - the legendary hip-hop icon whose career has been peppered with accusations of violence - is facing some serious allegations this week. Diddy's going to be gracing the halls of a New York courthouse, beginning Monday, for a trial on charges that he misused his business empire to sexually abuse women.

Jury selection starts in the morning and could take a few days to complete. With opening statements and witness testimonies set to commence next week, buckle up 'cause this trial's going to be a long ride!

The 17-page indictment against Diddy makes for some gripping reading, reminiscent of a Mafia boss or drug kingpin's charging document. It accuses Diddy of running a two-decade-long pattern of abusive behavior, backed by his entourage and employees from his business network.

According to prosecutors, Diddy manipulated women into participating in drug-fueled sexual performances with male sex workers, which he called "Freak Offs." To keep them in line, Diddy allegedly resorted to a mix of influence and violence: he'd offer them career boosts if they played along, or cut them off if they didn't comply.

And when things weren't going his way, the indictment claims Diddy and his cronies took it to a whole new level - resorting to beatings, kidnapping, arson, and even dangling someone from a balcony. Nasty stuff!

Diddy and his legal team insist he's innocent. They say the group sex was consensual, and there was no coercion or pressure to participate. They also argue that nothing that transpired amounts to a criminal racket.

The trial is expected to last at least eight weeks, and Diddy, now 55, has publicly addressed one episode of violence that's sure to make its way into the trial. Back in 2016, a security camera recorded him beating up his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, in a hotel hallway. Cassie filed a lawsuit later in 2023, claiming Diddy abused her for years, including beatings and rape.
