Diaspora Indians in Ethiopia still hold onto their traditional heritage: Supriya Sule

Fresh Take:

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, June 1 – A crew of Indian lawmakers, led by Supriya Sule, united in a worldwide charm offensive to advocate for India's position on terrorism, recently jetted off to key international hubs. On the Ethiopian leg of their journey, they submitted a thought-provoking perspective: a cross-cultural exhibition that underscored the profound connection Indian expatriates cherish with their ancestral traditions.

Sule, a parliamentarian hailing from the NCP-SCP, opined that their enthusiastic reception was a testament to the fact that "people from all across India…have remained deeply connected to their culture, no matter their geographical location." Not only was this a social affair to remember, but the delegation also met with Fekadu Tsega, the director-general of the Policy Studies Institute (PSI), in Addis Ababa.

The visit wasn't all about reconnecting with roots, though. "Tensions surrounding terrorism were thoroughly addressed" during these meetings, according to TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu. Krishna explained that the discussions centered on a multitude of aspects, including terrorism's destructive impact across the globe, India's persistence that the African Union's definition of terrorism be propagated at the United Nations, and the call for concerted action against nations harboring terrorism.

Devarayalu offered more insight, remarking, "Our liaisons with assorted people, government bodies, influencers, and research organizations have all been incredibly productive. They're in agreement with our anti-terrorism stance because they too face the horrors of terror on a daily basis. They align themselves with our convictions and deplore the actions of terrorist groups."

Other members of the delegation, including Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, and V Muraleedharan, to name a few, joined in the initiative to pool resources and perspectives aimed at dismantling the global infrastructure supporting terrorism.

The sole mission of this diplomatic troupe, largely fueled by a shared sense of national duty and global responsibility, is to synergize efforts with foreign allies in light of the Pahalgam terror attack, furthering India's ongoing crusade against cross-border terrorism. 🌐🔵 Join The Tribune Premium for further insights into India's global fighting efforts against terrorism. 🔵🌐
