She goes home empty-handed for the 17th time at the Oscars - Diane Warren breaks Oscar record with 17th loss in Best Original Song

Diane Warren has set an unwanted record at this year's Oscars. The songwriter now holds the sole title for the most nominations without a competitive win. Her latest loss came in the Best Original Song category for Dear Me, her 17th nomination.

Warren's nominated track, Dear Me, featured in a documentary about her life and career. Kesha performed the song during the ceremony. The award ultimately went to Golden, from the animated film KPop Demon Hunters.

Before this year, Warren shared the record with sound mixer Greg P. Russell. He had 17 nominations, but one was disqualified, leaving him with 16 official entries. Warren's latest loss now places her alone at the top of the list.

Despite her competitive struggles, Warren received an honorary Oscar four years ago. This brings her total to one Academy Award—though none from competitive categories.

The songwriter's 17th nomination cements her place in Oscar history. Her record stands as the most nominations without a competitive victory. Warren's career, however, remains celebrated through her honorary recognition and decades of songwriting success.
