Saving Diana's Sanctuary: Pippi's Haven on the Brink
Diana Doderer (33) doesn't share a home with Pippi Longstocking and her motley crew. Instead, she shares her estate in Allgäu with an assortment of animals - two sheep, two goats, four horses, eight rabbits, three chickens, two guinea pigs, and five cats.

The paramedic opened her sanctuary in 2019, naming it after Pippi's home. However, it's a very different kind of safe haven where livestock destined for the butcher get a chance at peace. "I saved the chickens from factory farming. They never saw daylight and had no feathers. I got my guinea pigs from families that were done with them."
But now her sanctuary is under threat. The owner has served her a notice to vacate by December 31, 2023, due to personal use.
