Charlotte Lady Triumphs in Hoppegarten's Diana Court Case - Diana Trial Verdict: Lady Charlotte Emerges Victorious in Hoppegarden Courtroom
Hoppegarten (dpa/bb), Berlin - In a close race watched by 9,800 spectators, including former mayors Klaus Wowereit and Michael Müller, the 32:10 co-favorite Lady Charlotte, ridden by jockey Adrie de Vries, snatched the win from the 25:10 favorite Nicoreni. After 2000 meters, the bay mare broke the tape in a photo finish, crossing the line in 2:08.9 minutes.
In a heart-pounding finish, Lady Charlotte emerged victorious by a neck, with Nicoreni finishing second. Fire and Ice (Rene Piechulek) took third, two lengths behind the leader.
De Vries, who's been riding high, praised Lady Charlotte, stating, "She's been getting better and better. Today's rain was beneficial for my horse, as she prefers soft ground. She remains undefeated in her fourth start, and she's simply an incredible mare."

Entrepreneur Marian Ziburske, Lady Charlotte's owner, expressed his excitement about his horse's and the prestigious event taking place at the beginning of August. "Our ultimate goal has always been the Preis der Diana," he said, reflecting on his decision to purchase Lady Charlotte. "Now she's the favorite for this important classic race." Lady Charlotte is currently under the guidance of trainer Andreas Wöhler in Gütersloh.
