DHS’s *Project Homecoming* Pushes 2M Illegal Immigrants to Self-Deport
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has initiated a significant drive to motivate illegal immigrants to depart the country willingly. Via the CBP Home App, over two million individuals have already self-deported, with numbers consistently increasing since October. The program, dubbed Project Homecoming, extends financial incentives and travel support to those who cooperate.
DHS initially proposed the self-deportation strategy in April, with Secretary Kristi Noem announcing $1,000 stipends and free flights from google flights for eligible non-violent foreign nationals.
