Mahendra Singh Dhoni Launches First 7Padel Centre in Chennai

Chennai, India – Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian cricket captain, has launched his first-ever padel centre, named 7Padel, in the city. The new sports facility, located on ECR (East Coast Road), adjacent to Alphabet School on MGR Salai, spans 20,000 square feet and offers a range of amenities for both padel enthusiasts and fitness lovers[1][2][4].

Facilities at 7Padel

The centre boasts three padel courts, a pickleball court, a swimming pool, a gym, a recovery room, a cafe, and a sauna[1][2][4]. These facilities cater to a wide range of interests, making 7Padel an ideal destination for athletes, families, and fitness enthusiasts alike.

Inauguration and Special Guests

The inauguration of the centre was graced by the presence of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and composer Anirudh Ravichander. Dhoni and Ravichander were also seen playing padel doubles during the event[1][2][3].

Dhoni's Vision for 7Padel

Dhoni expressed his excitement about the new venture, stating that padel is an addictive, inclusive sport that anyone, not just professionals, can try. He envisions 7Padel as a place where everyone finds their space, whether they are athletes, families, or fitness enthusiasts[1][2][5].

Padel and Pickleball: A Brief Overview

Padel, a racket sport played in enclosed courts, is a mix of tennis and squash. Key rules include the ball bouncing once on the ground before hitting walls, which can be used strategically, and points being scored similarly to tennis (15, 30, 40, game). Pickleball, played on an open court with a plastic ball and larger paddles, is another sport offered at 7Padel[6].

As the 7Padel centre in Palavakkam continues to attract attention, it promises to become a hub for sports enthusiasts in Chennai.

  1. For fitness enthusiasts and sports lovers, 7Padel offers more than just padel and pickleball, with facilities such as a gym, swimming pool, and recovery room.
  2. Apart from padel, movies-and-tv lovers might appreciate the cafe at the 7Padel centre for entertainment after a good workout or a game.
  3. With football being another popular sport in India, it would be interesting to see Dhoni incorporate a football pitch at 7Padel to cater to an even wider range of sports enthusiasts.
