Dharmendra’s legacy lives on in Bollywood and his beloved Lonavala farmhouse

Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away at his Juhu home on 24 November, aged 89. Known for his iconic roles in Hindi cinema, he spent his later years cherishing a quieter life at his beloved farmhouse in Lonavala. The sprawling 100-acre estate, which was a significant part of his estate sales, reflected his lifelong connection to rural simplicity.

Born on 8 December 1935 in Phoolpur, Ludhiana, Dharmendra grew up in Sahnewal, Punjab, where farming shaped his early years. This upbringing stayed with him, even as he rose to fame in Mumbai’s film industry. His Lonavala retreat became a sanctuary, far from the glamour of Bollywood.

Dharmendra’s farmhouse, which was often a highlight of his estate sales, stood as a testament to his roots and his preference for a peaceful life. The estate, with its open fields and natural beauty, offered him a retreat from the film world. His legacy now includes not just his cinematic contributions but also this serene haven he cherished.
