Germany's Final Preparations: Allianz Arena Awaits as DFB Squad Hones Skills

Ready and Set: Fresh Turf Installed in Munich - DFB squad gears up for fresh pitches in Munich

Get ready, football fans! Germany's national team, under the guidance of coach Julian Nagelsmann, wrapped up their final training session on a pristine pitch at their training headquarters in Herzogenaurach. On Wednesday (21:00 CET), the DFB team squares off against Portugal in Munich's Allianz Arena in the opening round of the Nations League final tournament. Nagelsmann and his players hope the pitch will be as immaculate for the much-anticipated match.

Following some celebratory fan damage during Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final last Saturday, the Allianz Arena's turf will be partially replaced. A handful of square meters of the hybrid grass will undergo an upgrade.

Don't worry about any potential disruption – Jürgen Muth, CEO of Allianz Arena Munich Stadium GmbH, reassured local Munich newspaper group, "Munich Merkur and tz," that this type of maintenance is routine, and there was never any risk to the event.

New Boy Woltemade Eyes First Cap

Nagelsmann's final preparations for the semi-final against Portugal have concluded. As the sixth-ranked team in the world, the German national squad will undoubtedly face a challenging match. With key injuries sidelining numerous players, Nagelsmann will likely make substantial changes to the starting lineup.

In goal, Marc-André ter Stegen will return after recovering from a serious knee injury, marking his first appearance since September 2024. Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, thanks to his impressive form, will likely make his international debut in attack with several high-profile absences. Upon the start of the preparations, Nagelsmann noted, "If he didn't have a chance, he wouldn't be here."

Warhorse Kimmich Readies for Historic 100th Cap

Team captain Joshua Kimmich is set to make history, playing his 100th international match – another star-studded milestone for the German national team.
