DFB counters Hoeneß criticism: "No scandalous mistakes" - DFB dismisses Uli Hoeneß's furious attack on Bundesliga referees after Bayern's fiery draw

The German Football Association (DFB) has rejected Uli Hoeneß's sharp criticism of the refereeing in Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen. The match, held on March 14, 2026, saw two disallowed goals for the visitors and two red cards, sparking controversy among club officials.

Bayern Munich had two goals ruled out during the game. The first was disallowed after Jonathan Tah was judged to have handled the ball in the buildup. The second, a strike by Harry Kane, was also chalked off for handball. Later in the match, referee Christian Dingert sent off Bayern's Nicolas Jackson with a straight red card and dismissed Luis Díaz after a second yellow.

The DFB reviewed the key decisions and concluded that most were correct or justifiable. However, Dingert later admitted that Díaz's second yellow card had been a mistake. Despite this, the association stood by the majority of the calls made during the match.

Uli Hoeneß, Bayern's honorary president, responded by calling the refereeing team the worst he had ever seen in a Bundesliga game. His comments prompted the DFB to issue a public rebuttal, defending the officials' performance.

The DFB's statement confirms that only one decision—the second yellow for Díaz—was incorrect. The rest of the calls, including the disallowed goals and Jackson's red card, remain unchanged. Bayern Munich will now focus on their next fixtures without the suspended players.
