The second earthquake followed approximately 10 minutes later, at 00:38:23 IST, with a shallower depth of 30 km. Its epicentre was reported at a latitude of 53.08 N and longitude of 160.59 E.
Both earthquakes occurred off the Russian coast, but no specific location was specified. The epicenters were reported offshore about 111 kilometers east and 126 kilometers east-northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, respectively. The first earthquake had a magnitude of 7.5, while the second one was measured at 6.0 on the Richter scale.
Despite the earthquakes' strength, there have been no reports of damage or casualties. Similarly, the July 2021 earthquake, which occurred off the east coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, triggered tsunami alerts across the Pacific but resulted in no reported damage.
The July 2021 earthquake, reported by seismic reports, was of magnitude 7.8 and occurred before the second one, on July 1, 2021. The exact location off the Russian coast was not specified for this earthquake either.
