Engine Maker Deutz Acquires Backup Power Plant Firm Frerk - Deutz AG secures €100M revenue boost with Frerk emergency power acquisition

Deutz AG, a Cologne-based engine manufacturer, has agreed to acquire Frerk GmbH, a specialist in emergency power systems. The deal, valued in the high double-digit millions, is set to complete in early 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Both companies see the move as a strategic step in the expanding market for reliable power solutions.

Frerk GmbH, based in Lower Saxony, designs and manufactures diesel and gas-powered emergency power systems. Around half of its business currently serves data centers, a sector experiencing rapid growth. Deutz aims to leverage this expertise to meet rising demand, particularly from artificial intelligence infrastructure requiring stable power supplies.

The acquisition will expand Deutz’s portfolio in high-demand sectors like data centers and AI-driven infrastructure. Once finalised in early 2026, the deal is projected to boost the company’s revenue by €100 million. Regulatory approval remains the final step before the transaction is completed.
