Determined Shinawatra Family Vows Continued Struggle Alongside Pheu Thai Party

The Pheu Thai Party held its weekly meeting on Tuesday, with key figures from the Shinawatra family playing prominent roles in rallying the party's MPs. Deputy leader Chusak Sirinil presided over the meeting, where Suriya Juangroongruangkit, a key figure in the party, addressed the members. Suriya emphasised that the party is now adjusting to its role as a 'true opposition party' in Parliament, stating that the party is 'strong, united, and a solid political institution'.

Suriya also vowed that Pheu Thai is 'ready to fight in every election' and urged all members to help reform the party to better serve the country.

The event took a dramatic turn when Khunying Potjaman Damapong, the ex-wife of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, made a rare public appearance to rally party MPs. Her entrance was met with a standing ovation from all MPs present, which was interpreted as a strong reassurance that the 'Shinawatra family is fully committed to continuing the fight in the political arena'.

Khunying Potjaman gave a simple message of defiance to the Pheu Thai Party MPs, saying 'fight on'. The thunderous round of applause for Khunying Potjaman was understood to be a clear sign that the Shinawatra family intends to remain a powerful force in Thai politics.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thaksin's daughter and the party's leader, was also present at the meeting. Her entry was met with a warm round of applause from party members.

The strong showing of support from the Shinawatra family has signalled their full commitment to the Pheu Thai Party. After the meeting, Khunying Potjaman entered the room to offer her support, leading to another standing ovation from all MPs present.
