Bauma 2025, taking place from April 7 to 13 in Munich, was the world's largest construction trade fair. With over 600,000 visitors and 3,601 exhibitors from 57 countries, the event served as a major platform for showcasing pioneering innovations and fostering partnerships in the construction and mining sectors.

The five key themes of Bauma 2025 reflect the industry's focus on sustainability, digitalization, and future technologies. These themes include Climate Neutrality, Alternative Drive Concepts, Networked Construction, Sustainable Construction, and the Mining Challenge.

  1. Climate Neutrality: Strategies, investments, and roadmaps to achieve carbon-neutral construction practices were a significant focus.
  2. Alternative Drive Concepts: The event explored opportunities, limitations, and infrastructure needs for non-traditional propulsion systems in construction machinery.
  3. Networked Construction: Digital technologies were integrated to create connected construction sites, aiming to improve operational efficiency.
  4. Sustainable Construction: The event emphasized reducing carbon footprints, conserving resources, and adopting circular economy principles in construction activities.
  5. Mining Challenge: The event addressed commodity supply security, automation, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria in mining operations.

Bauma 2025 featured a variety of exhibitors, both returning and new. Companies like Volvo, Deutz, CNH, Liugong, Skyjack, JLG, Fortescue, Sandvik, Metso Oyj, HG - 100% electric dumpers, and EXiron AG were present. Vans, transporters, and various components such as trailer tires and trailer axles were also on display.

Innovations presented at the event included ergonomic controls, vibration damping, driver assistance systems, telematics, and overload indicators. These advancements aimed to enhance safety and working conditions on construction sites. The technical core of the digitization efforts was the MiC 4.0 BUS protocol, which enables standardized communication between machines and attachments.

The event also highlighted the concept of "Connected Construction," demonstrating how innovations can make the construction industry more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. The VR-Experience Zone showcased interactive exhibitions on construction robotics, additive processes, digitalization, supplemented by expert interviews. Around 50 start-ups also showcased innovations such as mobile robots, digital twins, autonomous crane solutions, and alternative drives.

Hall B4 was a new central area for occupational safety, while Truck Racing might take place outside of the main Bauma 2025 activities. The Science Hub presented projects from 11 research institutions, including autonomous bulk material transport, cable robots, and mobile excavators with person recognition.

Digital technologies like the 3D machine control from Develon supported less experienced machine operators. Bauma FORUM featured short lectures, panel discussions, and keynotes on the main topics. The international website for Bauma operates under bauma.de, and tickets can be purchased there.

Karin Raustrom will assume the role of Chairwoman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck Holding AG from October 2024, contributing to the ongoing advancements in the construction and mining sectors.
