Detailed unveiling of Tour of Britain's opening stage schedule
The 2025 edition of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men's race is set to bring excitement and challenge to the British countryside, with Suffolk taking centre stage in the first two stages.
The race will begin on Tuesday 2nd September, with Woodbridge playing host to the start of the first stage. The route will wind through the picturesque Suffolk countryside, passing through towns such as Wickham Market, Aldeburgh, Saxmundham, Framlingham, Halesworth, Bungay, and Beccles. The stage will conclude on the coast at Southwold, covering a distance of 161.4 km.
On Wednesday 3rd September, Stowmarket will become the third new venue for the men's race. The stage will consist of a loop starting and finishing in Stowmarket, covering a distance of 169.3 km.
Babergh District Councillor John Ward stated, "Hosting the race is a great opportunity to showcase Babergh's landscapes, towns, and villages to an international audience."
The race will also visit Debenham, Eye, Sudbury, and Hadleigh, with the route weaving through these towns in the early stages.
Jonathan Day, BC event manager, expressed gratitude for East Suffolk hosting the opening stage and for Woodbridge and Southwold being added to the race's map.
The race will then move westward into England and Wales, featuring notable climbs and famous hills. The Tumble, in particular, is a challenging ascent that will test the riders' endurance. The race will conclude in Cardiff, Wales, on Sunday 7th September.
Details of the final four stages are yet to be revealed, but the race organisers have promised that more information will be shared with fans in the coming weeks, building up to another exciting edition of the Lloyds Tour of Britain.
