Despite being compelled to employ a rival's selection of golf clubs, this female tour professional maintains her standing within the US Women's Open tournament.

Golfing Chaos for Amari Avery at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open

Amari Avery, in her third US Women's Open, has been wrestling with an unconventional set of challenges this week. A series of mishaps unfolded, starting with a frantic scramble for golf clubs on Friday.

Seems like Avery's partner, Gavin Aurilia, had inadvertently taken the wrong travel bag for his own competition on Friday morning. In a bit of twist, both partners share the same travel bag, leaving Avery in a tight spot at Erin Hills. Thankfully, she managed to secure a similar set from Gabriela Ruffels, who had teed off in the morning wave. Ruffels, a fellow golfer, was kind enough to offer her set of clubs, as she had missed the cut with scores of 73 and 78.

Interestingly, Ruffels and Avery are represented by the same management company and use identical TaylorMade clubs. Ruffels even shared a picture of Avery using her clubs on her story, with the caption: "Bless my clubs pls."

Meanwhile, an unsettling incident took place on Thursday, when someone attempted to break into Avery's rental home, forcing her to move hotels with Aurilia. Despite these setbacks, Avery managed to stay focused on her game. She posted a one-under 71 on Thursday, moving to three-under for the event after birdies at the 14th and 15th.

Luckily, her clubs are set to return before the third round. Fingers crossed, her luck changes for the better!

As of now, Avery sits level-par through 16 holes, with play suspended due to darkness. Despite some hiccups, she's seven strokes behind Mao Saigo. Let's hope she recovers her mojo and flies up the leaderboard!

Despite the initial challenge of finding golf clubs due to a mixed-up travel bag, Amari Avery managed to secure a set from fellow golfer Gabriela Ruffels, who was using TaylorMade clubs, just like Avery. On the course, Avery has been resilient, with her clubs returning before the third round and hoping to catch up with the leader, Mao Saigo, in the sports of golf at the 2025 U.S. Women's Open.
