A Chilling Tale Unfurls on TV: Crime Drama "Wiener Blut - Landgericht"
Solitary Shadows in Vienna: Crime Novel "Vienna Blood - Criminal Court" - Desperate Situation: Only Criminals Offer Aid in Our Plight
Stepping into the heart of Austria's Winery District, a puzzling scene unfolds. A young woman, seemingly disoriented, is discovered along a dusty country road. Prosecutor Fida Emam (Nameless Actor) unearths her harrowing past, as the woman, now 18-year-old Laura Spindler, escaped from her two-year-long confinement in a wine cellar in Vienna.
However, the kidnapper, disguised with a mask, remains unidentified. Laura's friend Emilia, who vanished alongside her, is yet to be traced. Tune into the crime drama, "Wiener Blut - Landgericht," airing tonight, 8:15 PM, on ZDF.
As the authorities zero in on the cellar's owner, Vienna antique dealer Paul Ritter (Actor Ritter), he vehemently defends his innocence. Yet, suspicion surrounds his associate, Christiane Koch (Actress Vetter), tending to Ritter's bitter mother (Actress Petritsch). Despite their initial suspicions, Fida Emam and Officer Glösl (Officer Glösl) are quick to pin the abduction on the enigmatic Mr. Ritter.
Director Katharina Heigl ("SOKO Donau") weaves a gripping tale of intricate mother-child relationships in this suspenseful crime drama. Both the prosecutor and the defendant, portrayed chillingly by Actors Ritter and Foroutan, share a turbulent bond with their dominant matriarchs who perpetually savor red wine.
In a unique living arrangement, two formidable women, Charlotte Schwab (Actress Schwab, age 72, known from "Die Toten am Meer") and Melika Foroutan (Actress Foroutan, age 48, known from "Die Kaiserin"), share a home. While the former appears graceful and draped in wide robes, she occasionally succumbs to drunken slumber on the toilet. Actress Foroutan, on the other hand, delivers a gripping portrayal of a solitary investigator, mirroring her own relationships.
Loneliness verges on being a common theme in this crime drama, with an array of sorrowful characters leading seemingly bleak lives. Actors bring their characters' isolation and despair to life in a convincing manner. Yet, the search for the missing girl maintains a palpable sense of urgency.
The narrative reaches a somewhat abrupt and messy climax, but ultimately uncovers a profound abyss of inhumanity.
