Maria Vladimirovna Romanova: The Head of the Russian Imperial House

Maria Vladimirovna, born in Spain, is the granddaughter of Kirill Vladimir, who became the senior member of the Romanov family after the execution of Nicholas II. Under the pseudonym Georgina Perosh, she has written suspenseful books, including "Miss Universe".

Maria Vladimirovna married Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia (Mikhail in Orthodoxy) and took Russian citizenship. Her son, George Mikhailovich, studied at Oxford (law degree) and worked in the European Parliament, dealing with transport and energy. He currently lives in Russia, where he manages the Russian food bank.

George and his wife Rebecca Bettarini, who is Italian, were married in the Isaac Cathedral in 2021, inviting 1,500 guests, including representatives of European nobility. Their son, Alexander, participates in sports such as swimming, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and horse riding, and is gradually getting used to his sister Kira.

The Romanov family values teaching their children multiple languages to avoid feeling like outsiders. They find Moscow safe and have never felt unsafe in any Russian city. Maria Vladimirovna finds the quality of childbirth care provided by Russian doctors excellent.

The Romanov family helps the St. Petersburg hospice for children with cancer and supports social initiatives. Alexander Zakataev, head of the chancellery of the Russian Imperial House, stated that Maria Vladimirovna visited the Pantheon of defenders of the Fatherland in Mitishchi and prayed for fallen soldiers.

Maria Vladimirovna is currently working on two new books, one set in Brussels and the other in the icy landscapes of Antarctica. Rebecca Bettarini, now Victoria Romanova, gave an exclusive interview to KP.RU.

It is important to note that the current members of the Russian Imperial House have a very limited presence and influence in Russia. Maria Vladimirovna, considered by monarchists as the head of the Imperial House, has no official role or authority in Russia. Her distribution of imperial titles and medals is symbolic without legal or political weight.

Thus, the Romanov descendants do not have formal political standing or recognized authority, and their actions are mostly private or ceremonial without direct engagement in Russian government or politics. No clear or official position of the Romanov descendants on contemporary Russian politics is recorded. Their relevance to current political debates or Russia’s governance is minimal, with no direct influence or public statements shaping policy or political discourse.
