Dermbach Library Celebrates 120 Years with Crime Reading by Susanne Irrgang
Dermbach Library marked its 120th anniversary with a special crime reading featuring local author Susanne Irrgang. The event, held in the castle's hall, was a collaboration with the Friends of the Museum and Library Dermbach e.V.
Katharina Koch, head of Dermbach's cultural department, kicked off the evening, warmly welcoming the guests. Irrgang, a native of the Thuringian Rhön, shared her personal journey, from growing up in the region to her initial career in trades and interior design, and later, her police training post-reunification. Her debut crime novel, 'Rhön beer and knackwurst', was the focus of the evening. This novel combines thrilling investigations with humorous glimpses into everyday Rhön life.
During the reading, Irrgang transported listeners to the fictional 'Schopfendorf', where chief inspector Arno Wicke is investigating the death of a painter. The audience was captivated, and after a short break, the tension rose as Irrgang continued her reading, accompanied by traditional Rhön beer and knackwurst.
The event concluded with the announcement of the next reading in October, featuring Leimbacher author and globetrotter Frank Schwarz. The library also revealed that the following author reading in October will be led by Jan Weiler.
