The New York Yankees have faced a tough stretch, losing their second consecutive game to the Miami Marlins. The Marlins, now just one game under .500, have been on a roll since mid-June, winning 29 of 43 games.

In the matchup, the Marlins' starter, Eury Perez, delivered an impressive six scoreless innings, while the Yankees managed only two hits and didn't have a baserunner after the fifth inning. The Marlins' bullpen, bolstered by recent additions, completed the shutout against the Yankees.

The Yankees' bullpen, which had been struggling before the trade deadline, showed some signs of improvement with their new acquisitions. Key relievers like David Bednar, who has been outstanding with 17 saves and a 2.37 ERA on the season, and Camilo Doval, a true bullpen ace, joined the team. However, in their debuts, all three new additions allowed nine runs and blew a 9-4 seventh-inning lead.

The loss has sparked criticism from Derek Jeter, the former Yankee Captain. Jeter expressed concern over the number of mistakes made by the team and urged the team to clean up their play, stating there are no excuses for poor performance.

The Yankees' sloppy play was evident in the first inning when Trent Grisham was thrown out at home after foolishly attempting to score from second on a single by Giancarlo Stanton. Another costly mistake was made by Jazz Chisholm Jr., who was doubled up at first on a pop up.

The loss has also affected the Yankees' standing in the American League East. They dropped to third place following the loss, and the Boston Red Sox surpassed the Yankees in the standings for the first time this season. The Marlins, on the other hand, are 6.5 games back in the NL Wild Card hunt.

Despite the setback, manager Aaron Boone came to Chisholm's defense after the game, agreeing with his base running decision. The Yankees will look to bounce back in their next game and turn around their recent slump.

In the upcoming MLB games, the New York Yankees, criticized by Derek Jeter for their sloppy play, aim to bounce back and rectify their recent losses. Given the Marlins' current form, having won 29 out of 43 games since mid-June, the Yankees may face a tough challenge, especially considering their struggles in baseball sports, evident in their second consecutive loss to the Marlins.
