Derby contender Telescope, who failed to capture Dante, recorded a gallop at Newmarket's Limekilns.

The Investec Derby candidate, Telescope, trained by Michael Stoute, is gearing up for his next racecourse gallop at Lingfield. This gallop is an essential part of his preparations for the Epsom Classic, scheduled for 1 June.

Telescope missed his seasonal reappearance in the Dante Stakes at York last week due to infected grazes on his legs. However, his condition has been assessed, and he showed promise during a workout on the Limekilns gallop in Newmarket. Michael Stoute expressed satisfaction with the colt's performance, and Telescope appeared to be moving well and showing good fitness.

The decision about Telescope's participation in the Derby will be taken day by day. If he comes through the workout at Lingfield OK, the plan will proceed. The colt's next step will depend on his condition after the workout.

Telescope is owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and has been considered a strong contender for the Derby. His odds for the race are currently 6-1 with some firms, reflecting his standing as one of the favored runners.

Harry Herbert, from Highclere, reported that Stoute seemed very pleased after Telescope's workout. The colt worked in company with an older stablemate during the session, which could indicate that he is handling the pressure of being a Derby candidate well.

As the race day approaches, the stress surrounding Telescope's Derby participation has increased. The added pressure on Telescope is understandable given his potential to make a significant impact in the race. However, the plan for Telescope depends on his condition after the workout at Lingfield. If all goes well, the Epsom Classic is still in sight for the promising colt.

Telescope, the Derby candidate owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, is preparing for a potential entry into the sports of horse-racing and specifically the Investec Derby, with the racecourse gallop at Lingfield being an essential step in his preparations. After missing the Dante Stakes and showing promise in previous workouts,Telescope's next step, should his condition allow it, could be the Epsom Classic, a major racing event scheduled for 1 June.
