The city has selected Alexei Shuvov, the oldest vice-mayor, to take on the role of acting mayor while Vladislav Logynov remains locked up.
According to city ordinance, the acting mayor is appointed from the vice-mayors with the longest tenure in that specific position, city officials explained.
So, Alexei Shuvov, who has held his post since the end of 2021, will now be wearing the big boy pants.
In the early stages of his career, Alexei Shuvov served in the criminal justice system: in the Krasnoayarsk Transport Prosecutor's Office, leading the investigative unit for the Soviet District, served as first deputy prosecutor in Zheleznogorsk, and headed the department overseeing anti-corruption legislation compliance for the Krasnoayarsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
He joined the city's administration in July 2020, rising through the ranks to become deputy mayor, then first vice-mayor.
"During my meeting with the Governor of Krasnoayarsk," Alexei Shuvov explained his new role, "we set clear goals that we will continue to implement systematically. The priority is stability within the city, plus ongoing work on development projects with a sense of responsibility towards the residents."
It's worth mentioning that Vladislav Logynov, who was arrested on bribery charges, still officially holds the position of mayor.
