Deputy Ikpeazu's lieutenant departs from the PDP party following a meeting with Alex Otti

Ude Oko Chukwu, the former deputy to Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The resignation, which took place on August 5, 2025, was addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo, Ohafia LGA.

Personal reasons were cited as the reason for Chukwu's departure from the PDP. In his resignation letter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had to serve at various levels within the party and thanked the PDP for its support over the years.

However, the resignation letter did not mention any immediate plans for Chukwu to join another political party. Some party members suspect that he may join the Labour Party (LP) after reported talks with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed.

During his visit to Governor Dr. Alex Otti of Abia State, Chukwu praised Governor Otti for his exemplary leadership and transformative development. He did not, however, mention any visits to Governor Otti or praise for his leadership in his resignation letter.

Chukwu's absence from various PDP events in Abia State, Abia North, and Ohafia in particular has led some party members to claim that he is no longer interested in PDP affairs. The visit to Governor Otti did not go down well with members of the PDP in the state, leading to Chukwu's removal from all Abia PDP stakeholders groups.

In the visit, Chukwu appreciated the experience and knowledge gained during his membership of the PDP. He also stated that Governor Otti has earned re-election in 2027. Chukwu wished the PDP well in its future endeavors.

Ude Oko Chukwu's resignation letter does not mention any plans for re-election in 2027. It is unclear at this time what Chukwu's next political move will be.

  1. Ude Oko Chukwu, having resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), might potentially explore migration to another political party like the Labour Party (LP), considering reported failed discussions with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders.
  2. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to release a statement regarding Chukwu's resignation, as it pertains to ongoing policy-and-legislation issues and general-news coverage of war-and-conflicts in Naija.
  3. Political analysts suggest that Chukwu's visit to Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti could be strategically timed for the 2027 election, given Chukwu's praise for Governor Otti's leadership and transformative development.
  4. During his visit to Abuja for general-news discussions with other political figures, Chukwu expressed support for policies promoting economic growth, education, and improving the welfare of citizens across Naija.
  5. The resignation of Ude Oko Chukwu from PDP has sparked debate among party members regarding the state's politics and future direction, with some advocating for more transformative policies to attract disillusioned members like Chukwu back to the party.
