Depeche Mode unveils sneak peek for grandiose live-action concert video
Depeche Mode, the renowned British band, is set to release their new official movie titled "DEPECHE MODE: M" in cinemas and IMAX® worldwide on Tuesday, 28 October. The movie is part of Depeche Mode's Memento Mori tour, which took place over 2023 and 2024, marking a significant return for the band following the loss of a band member.
The movie was directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frias, who followed the band during their Memento Mori Tour 2023/24 at three concerts in Mexico City. He conceived and directed the movie, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and explores cultural themes connected to death and mortality in Mexico.
The trailer for DEPECHE MODE: M was captured during the Memento: Mori tour, and the movie documents the band's sold-out shows at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium. Dave Gahan, the frontman of Depeche Mode, spoke about the project, stating that at its core, the movie is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people.
Tickets for DEPECHE MODE: M are currently on sale. While the specific location for ticket purchases was not provided, interested fans are encouraged to check local listings for availability.
The Memento: Mori tour was the duo's first tour since the death of co-founder Andy "Fletch" Fletcher in 2022. Despite the loss, Dave Gahan and Martin Gore played to more than three million fans at 112 shows around the globe during the tour.
Fernando Friás, who directed the movie, did a beautiful job telling the story through the lens of Mexican culture and Depeche Mode's shows in Mexico City. The movie promises to be a poignant and powerful tribute to the band's legacy and the power of music to connect people across cultures.
DEPECHE MODE: M was premiered at New York's Tribeca Film Festival in June, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. With the band's rich history and the unique perspective of the movie, it is sure to be a must-see for fans of Depeche Mode and music enthusiasts alike.
