Depeche Mode to Premier a Fresh Concert Documentary
Depeche Mode, the renowned British electronic duo, has announced the upcoming release of their concert film, "Depeche Mode: M." This highly-anticipated film will be shown in cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide starting October 28, 2025. The film will have a limited theatrical run, with screenings in over 2,500 cinemas across more than 60 countries[1][2][3][4][5].
The film was directed by Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías and captures the band's three sold-out shows at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium during their 2023 Memento Mori tour. It premiered earlier at the Tribeca Festival in June 2025 before the global cinema release[1][3][4].
Tickets for the screenings will go on sale beginning September 17, 2025, available via the official event website[3][4].
"Depeche Mode: M" is not a remastered version of earlier Depeche Mode concerts or performances. It is also not a biographical documentary about the band or its members, nor is it a charity event, a fundraiser, or an advertisement for any specific product or service[6][7][8].
Instead, the film delves into the themes of music, Mexican culture, and transience. Singer Dave Gahan praised the work of director Fernando Frías de la Parra, calling it "truly wonderful." The film illustrates the timeless, multicultural impact of Depeche Mode and takes the audience on an intense musical and spiritual journey[9][10].
The concert film demonstrates the profound connection between music, transience, and Mexican tradition[11]. It is not a repetition of earlier performances or releases by Depeche Mode, making it a unique and immersive experience for fans and newcomers alike.
