Furious Departure: The Left Exits Thuringian Coalition's Format
Thuringia's Patt Coalition's 3+1 Format Abandoned by the Left Party - Departure of Left Party from the Coalition's 3+1 Structure with Thuringia and Patt
The Thuringian Left has finally had enough of the 3+1 coalition format, according to parliamentarian business manager, Katja Mitteldorf. They're tossing aside this tactic for negotiations, as it's become more of a dead horse than a fruitful approach, Mitteldorf states, having also ditched the chat group for the format.
The 3+1 format? Think of it as a regular meeting for parliamentary business heads from CDU, SPD, BSW (Alliance 90/The Greens), and The Left. It's all about finding majorities in the Thuringian parliament, which, in this case, hosts a raspberry government comprised of CDU, SPD, and BSW. The alliance lacks a stronghold of its own in the state parliament, thanks to opposition from the Left and the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
Mitteldorf made it clear: the Left is no longer supplying majorities for the raspberry coalition. She's given them more than enough time to figure out their role (nearly a year!), but it's no longer her concern what happens next.
No meetings have been scheduled for the 3+1 format before the summer break. Mitteldorf hasn't ruled out a possible revival, but it ain't her party's call on the matter. "We have a responsibility for this country," she said, but "it's not up to us to make suggestions."

However, with the rise of far-right parties like the AfD, political alignments may be shifting, potentially leading to new coalitions or minority governments. This exit from the 3+1 format could be a sign of things to come. Stay tuned as the political landscape of Thuringia continues to evolve!

- Meanwhile, the furious exit of the Thuringian Left from the 3+1 format has caused stir in policy-and-legislation circles, with general news outlets like the Funke media group speculating about the broader implications of this move for the future of politics in Thuringia, Erfurt, and Germany at large.
