Deontay Wilder Faces Off Against Tyrrell Herndon: Details on Date, Timing, and Streaming Options

Let's Talk About Deontay Wilder's Comeback

Deontay Wilder is back, baby! That's what the former WBC Heavyweight Champion told me during an exclusive interview last week. Wilder is gearing up for a fight against relative unknown Tyrrell Herndon on June 27 at Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

This fight is available via pay-per-view on various platforms like iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH, Bell TV, Rogers, fubo, and PPV.com for $24.95. If you prefer streaming, it'll be available on BLKPrime.com's Digital PPV. The event starts at 9 pm ET. Here's the main card lineup:

  1. Deontay Wilder (43-4-1) vs. Tyrrell Herndon (24-5-0) - Heavyweight
  2. Deon Nicholson (21-1-0) vs. Devonte Williams (13-1-0) - Light Heavyweight
  3. Gustavo Trujillo (7-0-0) vs. Lateef Kayode (22-5-0) - Heavyweight
  4. Nico Hernandez (11-0-0) vs. Robert Ledesma (3-14-1)

Wilder declared, "I'm taking back my throne! And at the end of the day, man, America needs me. They're flying my logo everywhere, waving it. We need our hero back. And I'm gonna answer the call, baby!"

He's right.

Heavyweight boxing hasn't been the same without a dominant champion like Wilder. While Oleksandr Usyk is impressive and Daniel Dubois is promising, their rematch isn't generating the buzz a Wilder bout would. Their upcoming fight is in a few weeks, but no one's talking about it—at least not in the states. But if Wilder were facing Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, or even Francis Ngannou, all eyes would be on them.

Herndon faces Wilder as he attempts to break a two-fight losing streak and recover from a four-loss stretch over the past five fights. More than three years have passed since Wilder last notched a victory, defeating Robert Helenius via a first-round knockout in October 2020. That win set up a potential mega-fight against Joshua. However, both fighters needed to win their December 2023 matches to set up the fight, and Wilder lost a lopsided unanimous decision against Joseph Parker. Wilder was then stopped by Zhilei Zhang in June 2024, leaving many wondering if we had seen the last of the Bronze Bomber.

Now, a year later, just four months away from turning 40, Wilder is ready for another shot at the glory. To get there, he needs to win against Herndon, who is effectively a tune-up fighter for Wilder. Don't get me wrong; Herndon has a decent record with 24 wins and 5 losses, but he hasn't faced top-tier opponents or fought for a world championship belt. If herdnd doesn't sustain his current record by June 27, it'll shock the boxing world. Stay tuned for my post-fight analysis!

This upcoming fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyrrell Herndon on June 27 can be considered a sports comeback for the former WBC Heavyweight Champion. Wilder's fight against Herndon is available via pay-per-view on various platforms and streaming on BLKPrime.com's Digital PPV. The event marks an important step in Wilder's journey to reclaim his throne in the world of heavyweight boxing, a division that has missed his dominant presence.
