Denver shooting incident in 2024 incorrectly involved former Broncos wide receiver, Josh Reynolds
In the early morning hours of October 18, 2024, Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds, along with two friends, found themselves caught in a harrowing ordeal. The incident began as they were leaving a local strip club at 2:45 a.m.
As they made their way out, a group of suspects followed them, and the shooting commenced. The gunfire continued on the highway, forcing Reynolds and his companions to abandon their vehicle. Fortunately, despite being shot in the left arm and the back of the head, Reynolds did not suffer any major injuries.
The shooting was a case of mistaken identity. The perpetrators believed that Reynolds and his friends were the same people who had used counterfeit money in a $250,000 cocaine deal. However, the trio was not involved in any such transaction.
Less than two months after the shooting, Reynolds was waived by the Denver Broncos. Just over a month later, he signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets. In a surprising turn of events, Reynolds was later claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The authorities have made progress in the case, with Burr Charlesworth, one of the perpetrators, being convicted of felony assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison. At least two people from a drug deal at a Best Buy hotel were involved in the shooting, but one more suspect remains at large.
Unsealed court documents reveal that up to 12 conspirators were involved in the incident. In a bizarre twist, cleaning staff at the Denver-area Best Buy hotel found $37,000 in 'movie currency' and white powder in a hotel room just one day before the shooting.
Despite the traumatic event, Reynolds has shown resilience and determination, continuing his football career and proving that he is more than just a sports star—he is a survivor. As the investigation continues, the public awaits the capture of the final suspect, hoping for justice for Reynolds and his friends.
