Dennis Pasler appoints new minister of investments
Fresh Takes:
Dmitriy Ioнин Steps into Double Role as Deputy Governor and Minister of Investments in Sverdlovsk Oblast
Starting June 17, Dmitriy Ioнин will take on a dual role as deputy governor and minister of investments in Sverdlovsk Oblast, replacing the outgoing Vladimir Tretiakov, regional officials confirmed.
During an interview with our site sai.RU, Ioнин revealed that he had already worked closely with the Ministry of Investments and considered his new appointment as more of a formality.
"Our primary focus will be on attracting external investors to the region. We're already working closely with the investment team to refine our strategy. A concrete plan is in the works and will be presented at the government meeting in July. For now, we're collaborating with business associations for an external assessment. For instance, we'll soon meet with the 'Big Four' to discuss our strategy," shared Iońin with sai.RU's journalist.
The "Big Four" refers to a business coalition consisting of "Support of Russia," the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, "Business Russia," and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Denis Pasler, acting governor, had expressed dissatisfaction with Tretiakov's work during a cabinet meeting at the end of May. Pasler claimed that 90% of projects in Sverdlovsk Oblast either failed to materialize, or investors pulled out, or were stalled.
"I don't see much work from the Ministry of Investments to be honest. We can talk all we want about what we're doing, but the reality is that the ministry exists, and it's working for us. I've personally checked all the investment projects you mentioned. Yes, the businesses that operate in the region are up and running. But that's not entirely our achievement. Businesses grow independently based on the legislative framework of the subject and, of course, the company's development plans. However, the external work is absent," Pasler clarified.
Team Changes Under Pasler's Leadership:
In light of recent changes in the regional team, let's take a closer look at the man leading the charge: Dmitriy Iońin. The 40-year-old former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast from 2011 to 2017 transitioned to representing the region in the State Duma in 2017. In 2021, he was appointed as the deputy governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast.

"Dmitriy Iońin, in his new roles as deputy governor and minister of investments, plans to present a concrete strategy to attract external investors to Sverdlovsk Oblast at the government meeting in July. This strategy will involve collaborations with the 'Big Four' for an external assessment of their proposed plans."
"The changing political landscape of Sverdlovsk Oblast, under Dmitriy Iońin's leadership, encompasses not only his roles in policy-and-legislation as a Member of the Legislative Assembly and the State Duma, but also his recent foray into the general-news domain with his commitment to boosting investment and creating a favorable business climate."
