Dennis Gilbert returns to bolster Ottawa Senators’ defense after injury

Defenceman Dennis Gilbert is set to rejoin the Ottawa Senators after a month-long injury. The 29-year-old was recalled from the Belleville Senators on Sunday and will now travel with the team for their upcoming road trip. Gilbert last played at the end of October while with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. A left-handed blueliner, he suffered an injury that kept him sidelined for nearly four weeks. Gilbert’s return provides Ottawa with defensive depth as they continue their road stretch. His recent form in Belleville suggests he could contribute right away. The team will now assess how he fits back into the lineup before facing Dallas.
