Running Rampant: King Fred's Second Sprint - Denmark's Fit Monarch Takes The Royal Run Again
Denmark's King Frederik Once More Laces Up Shoes for Royal Run Event - Denmark's Frederik embarks on the Royal Run for a second time
Join the fitness fanatics of Denmark as they hit the pavement, inspired by their sport-loving king, King Fred X, 56. With an estimated 97,500 participants lacing up their shoes, they're gearing up to tackle distances of one mile, five, and ten kilometers at the seventh annual Royal Run in Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, Korsør, and Copenhagen on Pentecost Monday.
None other than Fred X himself will be present, leading the pack in the oldest Danish city of Ribe near the German border, and whipping out his shield and sword for a ceremonial start. Young Crown Prince Christian, 19, plans to race in Viborg, while the royal family will be represented in Korsør by the ever-gorgeous Queen Mary, 53.
Run for the King: A Danish Royal Put-Down
First launched in 2018 to celebrate Fred X's 50th bash, which was still in his crown prince days, The Royal Run has become a signature event for the Danish royal family. It's a massive public run, festival, and huge cheer squad frenzy! This year has seen the highest registration numbers yet, according to the organizers.
Elevated to the throne at the beginning of 2024 after Queen Margrethe, 85, passed the baton, Fred X and Queen Mary have four dynamic, active offspring: Crown Prince Christian, 19, Princess Isabella, 18, and the mischievous twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 14.
