In a unique appeal, Aalborg Zoo in Denmark has turned to the public for help in providing food for its carnivorous predators. The zoo, which houses a variety of animals ranging from rabbits to horses, is seeking donations of healthy small pets to ensure the proper nutrition, natural behavior, and well-being of its carnivores.

Carnivores such as lynx require "whole prey," which includes fur, bones, and organs, rather than just processed meat, to maintain a balanced diet and replicate their natural habits. By donating animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens, individuals can contribute to this important cause.

The zoo's practice of feeding live or whole prey aligns with its professional responsibility to imitate the natural food chain for the sake of animal well-being and integrity. Donated animals are gently euthanized by trained staff, ensuring nothing goes to waste. They also accept horses under certain health and transport conditions, which are euthanized by a veterinarian and zookeeper before feeding.

This practice supports the predators' dietary needs by providing them a diet close to what they would hunt and eat in the wild, including all parts of the animal, which is critical for their health and natural behaviors. Donations help meet fluctuating feeding demands throughout the year and reduce waste by utilizing animals that owners can no longer care for.

Meanwhile, in the world of football, FC Copenhagen is preparing for a crucial Champions League qualifier match against Malmö FF in Copenhagen on August 12th. However, the preparations have been disrupted by Storm Floris, which has caused the cancellation of several ferry departures between Denmark and Norway. Both Color Line and Fjordline have announced cancellations of eight crossings between Hirtshals in Denmark and Norwegian ports Kristiansand and Larvik, affecting over 8,500 passengers.

In addition, 29 Danish football fans were detained by Malmö police for planning to cause unrest in Sweden. The fans were sent back to Denmark to prevent any public disturbances.

A recent survey reveals that a large majority of Danes oppose lowering the minimum voting age to 16 in Denmark. Only 14% of Danes favor the idea, while 78% are against it. This opposition is reflected in the fact that just over 8,500 passengers will be affected by the ferry cancellations, but there is no public outcry or calls for action.

The story about Aalborg Zoo's appeal has been reported by international media outlets such as the BBC, The Guardian, and The New York Times, garnering attention and support from around the world.
