The scandal came to light back in September 2024, with a report of six children—aged 12 to 16—being exploited by the Zealand-based firm, LM Multiservices. The children were allegedly allowed to perform hazardous asbestos work illegally by the company. At least three of these youngsters were confirmed to have taken part in the work.
Following an inspection by the Danish Working Environment Authority, 14 immediate orders were issued to the company, and the case was reported to police in Zealand. The inquiry was transferred to South Jutland police district.

South Jutland Police Deputy Inspector Jan Rasmussen mentioned that the investigation focused on whether the alleged actions constituted a violation of human exploitation laws, as the children reportedly worked under unreasonable conditions.
The suspects, provisionally charged, may face additional charges for breaching work safety regulations, as per the report. Noteworthy, Parliament passed a law last year banning unauthorized asbestos removal.
