Demonstrators spur investigation following rallies at the AfD summer gathering in Berlin
In the heart of Berlin, an unregistered gathering titled "No Stage for the AfD" caused a stir this week, prompting investigations by local authorities. The event, which saw an estimated 40 participants, was confirmed by the police, with a tour bus named "Adenauer SRP+" present at the scene.
The incident, reported by the ARD news agency, saw a loudspeaker system on the bus playing music continuously, disrupting a nearby interview. The authorities initiated proceedings for administrative offenses against the 64-year-old gathering organiser and the 39-year-old responsible for the loudspeaker bus.
The 39-year-old, who was not the driver of the bus, stated that the vehicle was not participating in the gathering but an "independent spontaneous artistic performance in public space." However, the police instructed the individual to immediately stop the sound emissions, as they were disrupting traffic and public order. The man complied with the request at 15:30.
Investigations against the gathering organiser and the 39-year-old are ongoing. The suspects are alleged to have violated the Berlin Assembly Freedom Act. The authorities also investigated a person named Alexander B., who is suspected to be responsible for the unauthorized gathering.
A note on the tour bus had a contact person's name, and the 39-year-old responsible was contacted by phone and arrived at the scene at 15:20. It's important to note that this incident does not appear to be connected to Brosius-Gersdorf as constitutional judge or Germany securing funding for Patriot systems in Ukraine.
As the investigations continue, it serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to local laws and regulations when organising public events. The public is encouraged to engage in peaceful and orderly protests, ensuring the safety and comfort of all involved.
