Prepare for a spectacle of Trump proportions, as his self-proclaimed fairy tale parade unfolds in Washington D.C. However, while Trump puts on his kingly act, demonstrators across the nation are destined to challenge his reign, rallying under the banner "No Kings."

The parade, set to commemorate the 244th anniversary of the US Army, is actually an unconventional occurrence, leaving critics suspicious of its true intentions. Coinciding with Trump's 79th birthday, some accuse the president of seeking to celebrate like a monarch and rule with the same autocratic flair.

While the majority of the nation opposes the parade, finding its place within Trump's Republican Party, its supporters argue the extravaganza serves to promote unity and national pride. Former US General Ben Hodges, however, sees this as nothing more than an intimidation tactic, stating, "The parade is part of a deliberate strategy to display strength towards Americans, not towards foreign enemies."

As the military parade kicks off in Washington, a coalition named "Refuse Fascism" and other protest groups, fearing a violent confrontation with police, have decided to stay away from the event's epicenter. However, smaller anti-Trump demonstrations can still be seen in numerous cities, including Minneapolis, where a Democratic Party politician and her husband were tragically assassinated. The suspected assailant, at large, is believed to have targeted "No Kings" protests.

Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of New Yorkers, who gathered in droves to express their discontentment. Cities such as Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles also saw massive crowds in protest. In all, around 2,000 rallies are planned. Protests were thwarted in Florida as protesters en route to Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence were stopped by police.

Los Angeles organizers anticipated up to 25,000 participants. In the city where migrant deportation protests have erupted into violence, armed Marine Corps soldiers were deployed to maintain order. As for the scheduled spectacle itself, 7,000 service members adorned in modern and historical uniforms, along with over 100 vehicles and aircraft, including heavy tanks, will join the procession. Trump will watch the spectacle from a reviewing stand. Since abandoning past plans for a military extravaganza due to cost constraints, Trump returns with a grander vision inspired by France's Bastille Day parade.
